The Weather Cannon is a weapon in the pulp action comic, Atomic Robo. It is a large cannon said to manipulate weather, and was used for a test run in World War II, that, according to Otto Skorzeny, caused the delay to Operation Overlord.
History and Function[edit | edit source]
The weapon was first hypothesized and tested by Nikola Tesla. The weapon itself became a dud, and wasn't perfected until in World War II, when the Nazis were able to create a large-scale, working model, housed in an underground facility in an island in the Bailiwick of Guernsey. Though it was effective, it required vast amounts of energy to power up. Skorzeny's solution was Atomic Robo. He was able to lure them in with revealed intel, and when Robo and a group of soldiers failed an attempt to raid the facility, he was wired into the reactor.
As a weather cannon, it is able to conjure up storms and overcast clouds, but the effect was never truly seen in the comic.
